      一般说来,new在一些惯用特定的复合形容词中例如new-born child、new-laid eggs、new-baked bread、new-found pride、new-fallen leaves、new-fangled gadgets、new-fashioned clothes…。
    stamps、newly published books等。

new-baked bread=the bread that is newly baked

new-mown grass=the grass that has been newly mown

new-laid eggs=the eggs that are newly laid

      They baptized the new-born child.

      Teenagers like new-fashioned gadgets.

Those newfangled inventions are no better than my old machines.

Professor Su is a newly-appointed department head.

He is going to move in to a newly-furnished office.
