Hong Kong pop star Dave Wong held a solo concert in Beijing on Nov. 26, which marked his first and also last concert on the Chinese mainland. Dedicated to pursue further developments in the acting field, Wong's concert was a farewell to his music fans.
Although he had not appeared in public for a long time, Wong satisfied the audience with over 20 popular songs. The concert was suffused with a nostalgic ambience and many people were moved to tears.
Wong showed his devotion to each song, all of which were hits in the 1990s. Following his widely-regarded melancholic style, Wong impressed the audience with a sense of loneliness in his penetrating voice.
Despite the coldness Friday evening, the Capital Stadium, where the concert was held, was filled to capacity. A lot of people were from other provinces outside Beijing, some even from abroad. The audience showed great support for Wong and reluctance to the end of his singing career.
For such enthusiasm from his fans, Wong said he was very moved. "I'll remember this evening and all of you," Wong said. "I won't be drifting any more."
Wong also expressed gratitude to all those supporting him during the past 16 years with the concert. He hopes that he could bring surprises to his fans soon via acting.
