Once we learn how to map the brain and make computers fast enough to simulate it, all bets are off

[3]Let's consider the requirements for a computer to exhibit human-level intelligence including such complex aspects of intelligence as musical and artistic aptitude, creativity, the ability to get around in the world and even to respond to emotion. For starters, such a machine would need to be able to make some 20 million billion calculations per second. That kind of power, though staggering, seems attainable. Even if Moore's Law hits the wall with silicon-based chip technologies (by 2019 by my estimates), a new approach may come along to save the day. One possibility nanotubes conceivably could be fashioned into three-dimensional circuits made of hexagonal arrays of carbon atoms. One cubic inch of nanotube circuitry would be 1 million times more powerful than the human brain, at least in raw processing power.
